Flies are especially a nuisance to horses. Flies can be a nuisance to horses and transmit diseases through their bites.
As horse owners, this is why we know it is crucial to protect our horses by using insect repellents on their skin.
Flies are attracted to horses’ natural odor. Repellents can mask this smell to prevent them from being attracted.
So let us get started. These are three fantastic, easy-to-make horsefly repellent that work.
This is the first recipe, which only requires one ingredient. There is only one recipe. Although it may not be as effective as the horsefly sprays that you can buy, it is still very effective. It’s simple to use apple cider vinegar (ACV). Simply pour the ACV into a spray bottle and that’s it. You can dilute the ACV with water halfway if you or your horse are sensitive to smell. You should keep in mind that the more ACV you use to repel horseflies , the more you should apply it.
You will need to spend a little more time and effort in finding and mixing these ingredients for your next horsefly repellent.
- Apple cider vinegar should be about 2 cups
- About 1 Tbs. Mineral oil or any other oil
- About 1/2 Tbs. About 1/2 Tbs.
- Take 30-40 drops of each or all of the oils.
- Lavender, cedarwood and tea tree.
- A suitable spray bottle
Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake well to combine. Now you’re ready for horsefly repellent.
Although the horsefly repellentrecipe above is a little out of the ordinary it still works. You will need to combine approximately four parts of any alcohol, water, or grain alcohol with one part lavender oil for this recipe. It works best with an alcohol mixture, as the alcohol evaporates leaving behind the scent of the oil to protect your horse.
To ensure that the new horsefly mix is safe for your horse, it’s a good idea to test it on a small area of your horse first.
We highly recommend the Happy Horse brand Horsefly repellent, and Horsefly Sprays. However, sometimes you may run out.
